Nature of Work The purpose of this job is to supervise skilled and semi-skilled trades mechanics, seasonal employees, and outside contracted services engaged in the maintenance and repair of City of Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department-owned buildings, facilities, pools, water features, and grounds. Provides day-to-day operations, predictive and preventive maintenance, lifecycle and capital planning, asset management reports, space utilization and design, and all remaining items pertaining to improving the built environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Specific to Parks & Recreation
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Provides facilities asset management Provides regular reporting of Preventive and Reactive Maintenance on all Parks & Recreation Department facilities assets Manages day-to-day operations for Parks & Recreation Department facilities in asset registry Manages internal staff and contracted staff, which includes approving time sheets, leave, and overtime; determining work assignments and schedules; conducting performance evaluations; and ensuring safety program implementation Conducts routine Parks & Recreation Department facility tours and inspections Ensures a high level of customer service and quality control Meets with facility tenants if issues or complaints are issued Organizes and maintains Parks & Recreation Department facility asset registry Determines accurate facility replacement value and adjusts to economic and regional cost escalation Establishes annual funding requirements to properly maintain Parks & Recreation Department facilities within industry standards and best practices Establishes efficient life cycle planning for each Parks & Recreation Department asset Develops, maintains, and delivers comprehensive facilities operating budget Maintains detailed Parks & Recreation Department facility breakdown and adjust operational and capital planning accordingly Works with Parks Department Project Manager to develop project scope and facility needs across the Department. Work includes attending prebid, preconstruction, and construction progress meetings. Conducts inspections during the course of construction projects to ensure built project meets design expectations Keeps project disruptions to a minimum and assists with finalizing closeout process of each project Manages all Parks & Recreation Department artwork and facilitates acquisition of furniture and equipment Ensures safety hazard monitoring and oversees required inspections and testing Enforces all environmental OSHA, MIOSHA, and applicable EPA standards safety standards Serves as primary contact for all Parks & Recreation Department facility issues Performs related work as required

Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Facility Management or a related field. AND Five (5) years of related work experience in one or more of the skilled trades and considerable lead or supervisory experience. OR Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Required Licenses or Certifications Complete International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Certified Facility Manager (CFM) accreditation within two (2) years after meeting prerequisites
