Compassus The Regional Director of Palliative Care is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Regional Director of Palliative Care provides leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of palliative care services in a specific geographic area. S/he is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality palliative care to patients while collaborating with clinical team members, administrators, and community organizations. This role requires expertise in palliative care principles, program development and management, staff supervision, collaboration, quality assurance, education, and documentation. S/he serves as an advocate for palliative care, promotes interdisciplinary teamwork, and contributes to the advancement of palliative care knowledge and practices. Position Specific Responsibilities include developing and implementing a strategic vision for palliative care services in the region; identifying growth opportunities such as partnerships with healthcare organizations, community outreach initiatives, and new service offerings; establishing goals and objectives to enhance the quality and accessibility of palliative care; providing leadership to interdisciplinary teams and promoting collaboration among healthcare providers; collaborating with healthcare organizations to integrate palliative care into existing services; participating in the selection, training, and supervision of palliative team members including performance evaluation, merit increases, and disciplinary actions; managing and monitoring the productivity of nurse practitioners who are part of the palliative care team; evaluating program effectiveness and making recommendations for improvement; verifying compliance with palliative care billing and coding processes; building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, hospices, and other stakeholders; ensuring all financial and revenue cycle management components and goals are met; confirming appropriate certifications, affiliations, and accreditations are earned and maintained; monitoring the effectiveness and outcomes of the transition from hospice or home health to palliative care; and performing other duties as assigned. Education and Experience requirements include a Bachelor's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field; a Master’s degree in Nursing; minimum of five years nursing experience with clinical nursing care in oncology, hospice, geriatrics, intensive care preferred; experience in program development, implementation, and management, particularly in palliative care or end-of-life care programs highly preferred. Certifications required include active and unencumbered CNS or Nurse Practitioner license in state of employment, certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult, Family, Acute, or Geriatric, active NPI number, and maintaining active DEA certification if state allows prescription of controlled substances by APPs. Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care is preferred but not required. The role requires strong mathematical, language, and other skills including strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, regulatory knowledge, analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in data analysis and healthcare technology. Physical demands include regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
