The FY25 minimum is $76,383. This is a post-doctoral position to work in the lab of Dr. Katherine Hekman. Dr. Hekman, Clinical Instructor in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy within the Department of Surgery, is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral fellow for a department-funded project. Dr. Hekman’s lab research interests are in developing regenerative technologies for vascular disease, including peripheral artery disease (PAD) and lymphedema. PAD is driven by aging-related loss of vascular regenerative function resulting in significant disability and morbidity, including major amputation. Over half of PAD amputees are permanently disabled, and 1-year mortality after amputation approaches 40%. There is a dire need for alternative therapies to improve regenerative capacity in patients facing major amputation. The Hekman lab is particularly interested in leveraging the current technologies emerging in the stem cell field to develop novel regenerative therapies to address unmet clinical needs in the care of vascular surgery patients, largely aimed at preventing the need for major amputation of the lower extremities. Required Qualifications: Required skills : At least three years of prior research experience in cardiovascular biology, stem cell biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline , including technical experience with cell culture, animal procedures and breeding, Western blotting and qPCR Desired skills :Gene and s.c. analytics experience, behavioral tests, hiPSC cell culture, stem cell differentiation, hiPSC-derivative transplant, RNA Sequencing, viral approaches, and biomaterials Required Application Materials: CV [including education, research experiences, publications, and previous employment] Contact information for 3 professional references Seniority level
