The Role You’ll Play - Respite Provider
As a Respite Provider, you’ll offer compassionate support to youth experiencing mental health challenges, providing short-term, structured care in home, school, and community settings. Your role is crucial in helping clients stabilize and avoid hospitalization by delivering one-on-one support and collaborating closely with families and treatment teams. Whether you're offering direct care, leading activities, or keeping detailed documentation, your presence provides safety, consistency, and encouragement as youth work toward their treatment goals.
The Day-to-Day
Provide one-on-one support and direct services to youth in crisis or needing supervision in homes, schools, the respite house, or community settings, including assisting with daily activities, symptom management, and community outings. Collaborate with families and treatment teams to share client progress, participate in clinical supervision, and ensure services align with treatment plans and budget approvals. Transport clients and travel to service locations using personal or company vehicles as needed. Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record system and follow agency procedures for client incidents, medication compliance, and crisis de-escalation, including physical interventions when necessary. Ensure a safe, stable, and welcoming environment by maintaining cleanliness and order in the respite house during shifts.
