SUMMARY: Temple College is seeking an experienced and passionate professional to serve as an instructor and program chair for our Robotics & Automated Manufacturing Program. This position plays a vital role in preparing students for in-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, automation, and industrial robotics. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in robotic systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial automation, and smart manufacturing environments. Located in the Temple College Texas Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering (TIME) Center, the successful candidate will bring hands-on industry experience and technical expertise in robotic-controlled automated manufacturing processes and equipment, including additive and subtractive manufacturing, robotics, digital controls, autonomous technology, integration, and maintenance. This role is essential to preparing students for high-demand careers in the advanced manufacturing sector, a key driver of economic growth in Central Texas.
Under general supervision from the Vice President of Workforce Development, the incumbent will lead the Robotics and Automated Manufacturing Technician program, prepare for assigned instruction assignments utilizing the Roots Education curriculum as well as customizing and developing curriculum as needed. Maintain the Roots Manufacturing Teaching Unit, interfacing with Roots to ensure continuity of instruction. Utilize effective adult learning techniques to achieve the stated learning objectives for a range of learning styles. Work collaboratively with the Temple College Workforce and Continuing Education Division in the scheduling and delivery of open-enrollment non-credit programming, customized, contract training and regularly scheduled credit coursework. Professionally represent Temple College Workforce and Continuing Education in all interactions associated with scheduled assignments. May also involve serving in a consulting role to help businesses address organizational development needs. Initially, teaching the content on the Temple College main campus and working directly with adjuncts as the program expands and additional instructors are required.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering Technology, Robotics, or Industrial Automation. Teaching, training, or curriculum development experience. Certifications from recognized industry bodies (e.g., FANUC, Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, AWS, NIMS). Workplace experience in Industry 4.0 technologies, smart manufacturing, or IoT integration in industrial settings. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will: Manage Robotics and Automated Manufacturing curriculum for new programs and courses. Manage Industrial Lab and equipment within the Robotics and Automated Manufacturing Technician Bay. Teach courses in the related programs at all levels as needed or coordinate with adjunct instructors in dual enrollment, adult education, continuing education, and credit courses. Promote the Robotics and Automated Manufacturing Program and related activities at the national and state levels when requested. Work with VP to establish prior learning assessment processes for the Robotics and Automated Manufacturing program & certification standards. Qualified applicants must be committed to student learning, integrating technology into the curriculum, and encouraging engaged scholars. Develop and teach assigned classes in keeping with syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials. Maintain accurate student records in compliance with Temple College requirements. Submit required student reports according to schedule. Direct, evaluate, and assess the learning experience of the students in accordance with adopted curricula and approved procedures. Provide counsel and guidance to students as needed. Trainers work on average 40 hours per week, participate in professional development activities, department and college committees, commencement, and other activities. Develop lab concepts and design curriculum if needed, to support the Roots Education Training Curriculum. Participate in professional development for advanced certifications if relevant. Recruit for and promote Temple College and specific programs. Participate in campus-related committees as needed. Review student records for retention issues; follow up on progress through personal contact and correspondence. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Texas Education Agency, and the Temple College Board. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Robotics and Automated Manufacturing program-specific equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Knowledge of teaching and instruction for individuals and groups. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design. Knowledge of group communication and interaction techniques. Knowledge of the appropriate subject matter and the application of the subject matter for the discipline being taught.
SKILLS: Maintaining an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Excellent planning, execution, facilitation, and training skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in both oral and written forms. Intermediate to advanced use of a variety of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
ABILITIES: Ability to work with a diverse faculty and student population. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to engage students in the learning process.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Primarily moderate activity is required with frequent standing, walking and occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 40 pounds or more with assistance. Keyboarding and computer use. Use of audio/visual devices.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in an interior/office work classroom environment or a high-bay workforce lab.

Annual leave may be accrued up to a limit of 240 hours with special provisions allowing for annual accruals above that limit. Faculty with contracts less than 12 months do not accrue Annual Leave but are provided with 20 hours of personal time per fiscal year. SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS:
Faculty and Administrative Staff: Accruals of 8 hours per month. Sick Leave may be accrued up to a limit of 1040 total hours. Faculty with contracts less than 12 months will receive accruals during the summer semester if they instruct during that time.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HOLIDAYS: Recognized college holidays, in addition to Annual and Sick leave accruals, include Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Martin Luther King Day, Spring Break, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Independence Day.
PAYROLL:
Employees are paid by direct deposit through the last working day of the month. Actual deposits are paid on the last working business day of the month. All benefit deductions are taken at that time.
RETIREMENT:
Temple College is one of the few community colleges in the state of Texas to be permitted Federal Social Security deductions. Temple College is a Section 218 employer.
All regular employees are mandated by the Texas State Legislature to enroll in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) however, ORP participation is based upon position.
