Overview
The ideal candidate will be responsible for reworking dull rolls in the re-assembly department, where they will meticulously take apart and reassemble roll parts according to specific work orders. These work orders will provide detailed instructions on the oils to use and the placement of various components. While the task may be repetitive, given the similarity of roller types, quality assurance is paramount, requiring the use of micrometers and calipers to check parts. Additionally, the role involves some MIG welding, with training provided on an Automated MIG welder. Working with large rollers for paper and steel mills, candidates will utilize overhead cranes to maneuver and position these rollers within machines. Responsibilities
Rework dull rolls in the re-assembly department according to work orders. Ensure quality of parts using micrometers and calipers. Perform MIG welding with training provided on an Automated MIG welder. Utilize overhead cranes for moving and setting large rollers in machines. Essential Skills
Ability to tear down and rebuild motors. Proficiency in using micrometers and calipers. Capability to work from work orders and meet tight deadlines. Strong time management skills. High School Diploma. Experience in MIG welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with troubleshooting, electrical work, carpentry, and maintenance. Knowledge of blueprint reading, hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance. Experience with installation and conduit work. Work Environment
The work environment is in a historically established company with over 100 years of operation and a strong record of employee retention. The workspace is an open warehouse type with 15+ large roll machines, where rolls are maneuvered by overhead cranes. The plant is non-union and can be crowded and hot, reaching temperatures up to 110 degrees in the summer. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a mechanic's garage, with a distinctive metal and oil smell. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Joseph, Michigan. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
