Responsibilities
- Work with lawyers and clients to expedite collection of accounts receivable, ensuring timely and near-100% realization.
- Proactively address aged receivables, suggesting action plans for payment or resolution.
- Communicate with Finance Management, Partners, and Billing to resolve payment delays.
- Coordinate billing issues, especially electronic billing reductions.
- Use firm software to identify and monitor accounts for follow-up.
- Assist in resolving unapplied cash items and unclear remittances.
- Prepare monthly reports on top inventory items.
- Respond to inquiries regarding receivables and cash receipts using reporting tools.
- Coordinate write-offs of uncollectible invoices and respond to audit requests.
- Communicate to facilitate cash targets and forecasts, especially before year-end.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; higher degree preferred.
- At least two years of experience with professional services billing software (e.g., Elite, Aderant, Elite 3E).
- Experience with inventory management software (e.g., ARCS, Collect) preferred.
- Experience in a legal or professional services finance role.
- Proficiency in Excel required.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-focused, proactive, courteous, and professional.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Accurate and timely in task completion; collaborative team player.
Compensation & Benefits
The role offers a salary range of $63,700 - $92,350 in major cities like Boston, Chicago, LA, D.C., and $66,700 - $96,700 in New York, along with comprehensive health benefits, professional development, and a discretionary performance bonus.
Working Conditions
This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence for continuity, development, and collaboration.
