Who We Are And What We Do
The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state.

Job Overview
The Senior Correctional Compliance Specialist assists with the coordination of daily administrative services and provides supervisory support for the Audit Director 1Institutional Compliance within the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Duties and responsibilities include conducting annual audits of all correctional facilities, to include privately managed facilities, preparing and reviewing compliance reports, and conducting follow-up audits to ensure findings are corrected. Additionally, the Senior Correctional Compliance Specialist assists in reviewing and developing inspection instruments used to monitor compliance. This position reports directly to the Audit Director 1Institutional Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Assists the Audit Director 1 with compliance or audit revisions, policy reviews, compliance schedules, special projects, and directives/initiatives as appropriate and assigned; Assist with staff oversight on audits; Assist stakeholders in completing plan of corrective action (POCA) after audits, as needed; Report deficiencies to the Audit Director for review; Train subordinate staff in compliance/audit work, as needed; Provide training and guidance to field staff assisting with the audit process during audits; Ensure all audit documentation is ready for each audit; Ensure all audit documentation has been reviewed, scanned, and uploaded for review; Lead audits in the absence of leadership and assists other divisions with audits, as assigned; Report or present on matters related to compliance; Attend training and conferences related to compliance; and Other administrative tasks, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree and experience equivalent to five years of correctional work, including at least three years experience as an audit team lead and/or supervisory experience.
Substitution of Experience for Education:
Qualifying full-time professional or paraprofessional correctional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
OR
7 years of compliance or auditing experience in correctional facilities or programs, including at least three years experience as an audit team lead and/or supervisory experience.
