Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Computer Systems Engineer/Architect
Location: Hybrid - Downtown Washington, DC
Overview:
We are hiring an experienced Computer Systems Engineer/Architect (SME) to lead the design, integration, and optimization of complex cloud-native and hybrid systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in systems engineering and demonstrate mastery across multiple cloud environments.
Eligibility Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to pass a government background check. Must hold one or more industry-standard certifications, such as:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Google Professional Cloud Architect, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and implement end-to-end solutions using cloud-native and hybrid technologies. Design systems to meet requirements for scalability, resilience, performance, and security. Produce detailed documentation including system architectures, integration workflows, and deployment plans. Provide technical leadership for DevOps, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud orchestration. Lead troubleshooting and performance tuning across distributed systems. Align solutions with industry standards and organizational priorities for IT modernization. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of experience in systems architecture, systems integration, or enterprise IT engineering. Deep expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid cloud strategies. Strong grounding in systems engineering principles, infrastructure as code, and security-first architecture. Outstanding problem-solving and communication skills with a track record of leading large-scale implementations.
