Position Overview:
The Software Developer, Application (SME) is a highly technical role responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and maintaining general-purpose and specialized utility software applications across various domains including logistics, finance, personnel, and contracting. The SME leads software engineering efforts through the full system development life cycle (SDLC), leveraging emerging technologies, cloud platforms, and DevSecOps methodologies to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, create, modify, test, and document computer application software and specialized utility programs based on user needs and operational efficiency goals. Analyze functional requirements and business application specifications to develop tailored software solutions, including database modeling and application integration. Execute all phases of software engineering-design, analysis, modeling, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance-at a senior technical level. Assess and address hardware/software compatibility, system limitations, and performance constraints within the system architecture. Direct requirements gathering, data analysis, and impact assessments related to both internal development and third-party application integration. Lead the design and implementation of applications using Azure cloud services, Active Directory, Azure AD integrations, and certificate services. Design and develop software solutions leveraging block diagrams, logic flow charts, and system models to translate detailed designs into functional code. Lead debugging, code refinement, and performance tuning to optimize existing applications, improve efficiency, and reduce runtime. Produce and maintain user-level and program-level documentation including SOPs, user manuals, technical specifications, and training materials. Serve as a technical lead or task lead, guiding junior developers and ensuring adherence to established development standards, processes, and delivery schedules. Provide integration testing and system support for networked and distributed computing environments. Analyze and document client requirements, provide direct support to end-users, participate in client meetings, and deliver technical briefings or system demos. Continuously research, evaluate, and incorporate emerging technologies to enhance application execution and system performance. Job Requirements
Minimum Education and Qualifications - Subject Matter Expert (SME):
Education: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, or related field; OR an IT Certification. (Six years of experience may be substituted for three years of education.) Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of experience in software requirements management, design, coding, testing, debugging, architecture, and documentation. Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Windows Azure software development with integration of cloud-based services such as Azure AD, Active Directory, and Certificate Services. Minimum of six (6) years of project-level software design and application development experience. Minimum of six (6) years of experience in an Agile DevSecOps development environment. Minimum of six (6) years of experience using Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket or equivalent toolsets.
