This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a
National Technical Practice Leader: Buildings
within our
Property & Buildings business line.
Passionate about the technical practice of what we do, the National Technical Practice leader will provide strategic technical leadership and delivery oversight across the Property and Building’s team, ensuring a consistency in technical delivery and operation as a cohesive national practice. This new role will be essential in ensuring a balance between local responsiveness and national technical expertise and will lead the development and ongoing delivery of a consistent technical delivery approach across the teams. This national leader will also champion technical innovation, including digital delivery strategies in partnership with the Digital Places leader.
This position reports directly to the National Business Line Executive, with the intent of ensuring strategic balance between operations, growth and technical practice.

Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings. Utilizes our Global Client Program and extended reach across regions, districts, offices, and global to foster new and innovative client delivery. Deploys our unique expertise and perspective to create new value for clients and provides industry leadership within the district. Engage as the Principal in Charge in key pursuits and projects to guide technical solution and ensure strong project delivery. Will lead key GCP client accounts, leading WSP’s strategy to support the client’s growth goals.
Expertise
Foster a culture of technical excellence, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery across regions. Champion innovation and digital transformation initiatives, proactively identifying and integrating cutting-edge digital tools and processes. Collaborate with our Digital Places leadership to define, develop and deploy integrated digital delivery solutions into our business, with a focus on two areas: how we enhance our approach to developing BIM deliverables; and how we enhance the ability of our engineers to be visioneers and create amazing technical solutions to our client problems. Collaborate closely with both the Regional Leaders and Centers of Excellence (CoE) Leaders to identify and deploy best practices and innovative solutions across the business. Leverages our global technical experience to enhance service offerings. Lead our coordinated approach to technical practice, ensuring that each discipline is connected and working together to create the WSP way, building upon both the various innovations that have come from firms that have joined WSP and new ideas identified by our teams. Fosters the development of innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in Building Engineering and Consulting. Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of WSP staff.

Support our practice leaders in attracting the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, inclusive and diverse, and inviting of broad, creative input. Reinforce operating as a national practice that brings the best talent, agnostic of geography to support our clients Emphasize employee training and development to create a unique work experience. Leads strategic recruitment, promotional programs, and performance management focused on the employee experience, wellness and safety. Supports programs such as Safety, Sustainability and Ethics & Compliance. Lead graduate and intern recruitment strategy across Property & Buildings.
Operational Excellence
Support the prioritization of investments to enhance WSP’s ability to deliver high quality, sustainable projects for clients, bringing the best tools and practices available to market. Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular review and implements process improvements and automation. Focuses on innovation and enhancing health & safety, quality and sustainable standards. Supports our Practices leaders to ensure that we assemble the best teams from across WSP to maximize productivity, including bringing in technical expertise as applicable to best solve client challenges. Works with the National Business Line Executive to support Property and Buildings ongoing growth initiatives, both organic and through M&A. Work with Procurement to coordinate key partner and sub-consultant relationships and implement framework agreements where possible. The utilization goal for this role is 20 – 30%.
Collaboration and Relationship Building
Work collaboratively with other Practice Leaders and CoE leaders to ensure integrated, multi-disciplinary approaches to client solutions. Partner with the National Development Director to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients and strategic partners. Enhance national consistency while respecting regional diversity and market-specific requirements.
Leadership and Team Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to our technical discipline leaders, fostering their professional growth and ensuring alignment with national strategies. Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture within the national practice.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Technical Excellence: Consistency and quality of technical outputs. Innovation: Successful deployment and integration of digital innovations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, or a related field Minimum 17 years of experience in engineering, consulting, or related professional services environment with demonstrated leadership experience. Proven track record in managing complex, geographically dispersed teams with demonstrated success in operational efficiency and financial management. Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills. Demonstrated commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and technical excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree preferred

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $200,000-$350,000K
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
