Facilities & EHS Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Facilities & EHS Manager to join a dynamic biotech startup scaling reagent manufacturing in a state-of-the-art, 100,000 sq. ft. facility. As a qualified candidate, you'll be the driving force behind our physical infrastructure and safety culture, overseeing all aspects of facility operations and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S). You'll ensure the workspace supports reagent manufacturing productivity, general lab practices, regulatory compliance, and world-class employee experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities Operations
Manage daily facility operations, preventive maintenance, and critical systems (HVAC, utilities, equipment) Lead lab buildouts and facility upgrades in support of R&D and manufacturing growth Oversee vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and service level execution Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety regulations, and accessibility standards. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response for facilities-related incidents. Support space planning and internal moves to accommodate rapid team expansion Maintain readiness for facility inspections and emergencies
EH&S Operations
Build and enforce EH&S policies tailored to biotech reagent production environments Manage and work with EH&S consulting firm to ensure site-wide compliance with OSHA, EPA, local fire codes, hazardous materials standards, and biotech safety protocols Conduct periodic audits, training, and drills (e.g., spill response, fire safety, biosafety) Partner with MFG & R&D teams on chemical inventory systems, PPE enforcement, and ergonomic solutions Maintain up-to-date documentation for permits, inspections, and incident reports
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, EH&S, or related field 5+ years of facility management in biotech/pharma, including buildouts and safety program leadership Hands-on experience with reagent production or laboratory infrastructure Deep understanding of EH&S regulations, ISO13485, biosafety levels, and hazardous material protocols Rounded organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills Excels at balancing compliance and operational agility Passionate about cultivating a safe, efficient, and scalable environment Available to work extended hours. Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
