About the Role Cenergistic is seeking a skilled Building Automation Systems (BAS) Control Engineer with a strong background in HVAC systems and hands-on experience with Johnson Controls, Siemens, and other major control platforms. In this role, you'll support our mission to reduce energy consumption in schools, universities, hospitals, and municipal buildings by analyzing, optimizing, and programming building systems for peak efficiency and comfort.
You'll collaborate with Energy Specialists, client facility teams, and our internal engineering staff to identify savings opportunities and implement control strategies that reduce utility waste-without compromising building performance. What You'll Do Optimize Building Performance • Assess, modify, and optimize BAS programming for energy efficiency across diverse facilities • Troubleshoot and fine-tune existing Johnson Controls and Siemens BAS systems to improve HVAC performance • Review and interpret building automation trend logs, sequences of operation, and control drawings Collaborate for Impact • Partner with Energy Specialists and client facility staff to understand operational needs and resolve issues • Provide technical support during on-site assessments, system commissioning, and retro-commissioning efforts • Work closely with software and data teams to incorporate automation data into analytics platforms Implement and Support Control Strategies • Develop or refine control sequences that support conservation while maintaining occupant comfort • Recommend upgrades or retrofits to enhance system capability and control logic • Document changes and create standardized procedures for long-term savings Technical Environment • BAS platforms: Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo/Insight/Apogee, Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Alerton, etc. • HVAC equipment: RTUs, chillers, boilers, VAVs, AHUs, heat pumps, economizers • Tools: Trend logs, control diagrams, system graphics, remote diagnostics software • Data platforms: Energy dashboards, interval meter platforms, IoT integrations What You Bring Required Qualifications • 3-5+ years experience working with Building Automation Systems (especially Johnson Controls and Siemens) • Deep understanding of HVAC system operation and control strategies • Proven ability to interpret and adjust BAS programming and sequences • Experience commissioning, retro-commissioning, or optimizing mechanical and control systems • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications • Experience with other BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium, Honeywell, Schneider Electric) • Familiarity with IPMVP, ASHRAE guidelines, and building code requirements • Certifications such as CEM, LEED AP, or manufacturer-specific BAS credentials • Working knowledge of energy auditing or M&V processes Why This Role Matters • Energy Impact: Your expertise helps reduce consumption, lower costs, and improve sustainability across mission-critical facilities. • Mission-Driven Work: Enable schools, hospitals, and municipalities to reinvest savings into what matters most. • Technical Leadership: Be a go-to resource for advanced controls, automation, and system efficiency. • Innovation with Purpose: Work with cutting-edge tools, platforms, and strategies in a fast-moving, purpose-driven environment Cenergistic is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
