Our client, a leader in marine engine and propulsion systems and power generation equipment, seeks a Sr Controls Project Engineer to apply their technical expertise in industrial power generation, process plants, and automation systems. The role can be based in the New Orleans area, Ft Lauderdale, or Washington state (willing to relocate the right candidate). It will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating high-performance control systems as well as leading projects from concept to execution ensuring optimal performance of control systems in mission-critical applications.

- Lead and execute the design, testing, and integration of engine/turbine control systems for land-based applications and marine applications for the upgrade and retrofit of existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for engines, turbines, generators, vessels, and switchgear.
- Program PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems.
- Mentor and train junior engineers.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including detailed work scopes.
- Travel (mostly domestic) up to 25% for onsite commissioning, troubleshooting, and client support.
Senior Controls Project Engineer Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant steam turbine control experience, or 15+ years of hands-on experience in power generation, industrial automation, or a related field in the industrial steam turbine field.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is preferred
- Valid U.S. Driver's License & Passport - ready for domestic and international travel (must also have US citizenship or Green Card).
- Expert in prime mover control systems, automation, and power generation technologies.
- Industrial Steam Turbine Control Experience (condensing, admission, single extraction, double extraction).
- Extensive experience in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development (strong ladder logic expertise).
- Advanced understanding and experience of troubleshooting concepts.
- Ability to use standard test equipment and hand tools.
- Analyze and interpret complex wiring diagrams, control schematics, and system architectures.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
