ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Senior Backend Web Engineer contractor to support our existing web properties (the main product/www, community and help websites) by maintaining and improving existing functionality, as well as implementing new functionality or modules. This individual will also work with the front-end developers to implement functionality necessary to enable them to build cutting edge, high performing customer experiences.
Our self-hosted sites are built on Drupal (version 10), with the community site being hosted on Vanilla Forums/Higher Logic. The primary language for development is PHP, though experience writing and interfacing with JavaScript and CSS will be a strong plus.
Develop web solutions in Drupal and PHP in a LAMP environment Expert knowledge of PHP, PHP files and theme functions, and knowledge of the Drupal theme layer Architect enterprise Drupal solutions including data, display, and information architecture Create custom Drupal modules Participate in the entire development life cycle, from concept to release Implement new features and utilities, and support as well as improve the ones we have already built Work closely with front-end developers and customers to ensure effective, visually appealing, functional and intuitive implementation of functionality Maintain code in a shared, version-controlled code base, and assist in executing scheduled deployments and product releases. Participate in QA and bug triage and resolution ESSENTIAL QUALIFCATIONS
5+ years of Software and Web development experience PHP development in a professional setting MySQL Drupal (Professional experience developing for/with) Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with frequent production releases Experience implementing solutions in HTML, JavaScript and CSS implementation Experience implementing responsive designs for mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers Familiarity with React, Redux or Bakbone.js Experience working with and building REST based APIs Knowledge of SEO coding best practices
