SoFi is seeking a
Senior Engineering Manager
to lead the engineering team responsible for building our new
international remittance platform . This product will enable members to send instant, low-cost payments across borders using modern technologies-including blockchain and next-gen financial infrastructure. It's a critical part of SoFi's mission to deliver a full-stack, member-centric financial ecosystem.
As the Senior Manager, you'll lead a team of talented engineers to deliver a compliant, performant, and secure global remittance platform. You'll guide technical direction, manage execution, and foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, reliability, and customer-centricity. You'll partner closely with product, design, compliance, risk, and legal to drive solutions that are both technically sound and operationally robust.
The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor. You will be overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying as well as continual improvement and evolution. You will become part of a new kind of finance company whose ambition is to help our members achieve financial independence and reach their goals. What You'll Do: Lead & Deliver:
Manage one or more full-stack(mobile/web and backend) engineering teams, driving execution across the entire development lifecycle-from requirements gathering and system design to delivery and operations. Ensure projects are delivered on time, with high quality and alignment to business goals. Grow the Team:
Define hiring needs, build effective sourcing and evaluation strategies, and drive recruiting efforts to scale a high-performing team. Mentor, coach, and support engineers' professional growth through clear development plans and regular feedback. Drive Accountability:
Set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for delivering reliable, scalable, and secure systems. Remove roadblocks and foster a culture of ownership and excellence. Shape the Culture:
Build a collaborative and inclusive engineering environment rooted in continuous improvement, technical curiosity, and mutual respect. Foster team cohesion and fun-even in high-paced and ambiguous settings. Strategic Impact:
Collaborate with product, design, compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, milestones, and technical direction. Contribute to SoFi's broader strategy by driving new initiatives and surfacing impactful technical ideas. Roll Up Your Sleeves:
Operate at multiple levels-from high-level planning and architecture to tactical support and troubleshooting. Be hands-on when needed to unblock teams and drive progress. What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferably in a technical field), or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, mission-critical systems. 4+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance development. Proven track record of delivering high-impact software projects in fast-paced, agile environments. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions. Experience driving engineering excellence and accountability across distributed teams. Willingness to operate in ambiguous situations and lead with initiative and clarity. A passion for empowering engineers and creating world-class fintech solutions. Nice to Have:
Understanding of blockchain fundamentals and how they can be applied to payment infrastructure. Experience building or integrating systems on top of modern payment networks, including blockchain-based solutions (e.g., Bitcoin Lightning Network, stablecoin rails). Familiarity with global remittance, FX, or money movement infrastructure. Exposure to working with third-party providers that support cross-border payment capabilities or crypto-powered settlement. Awareness of compliance, KYC/AML, and regulatory considerations in cross-border transactions. Interest in the evolving role of blockchain and digital assets in financial services. Prior experience delivering fintech products in a regulated environment. What we offer:
