We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer leads efforts to design, sustain, and troubleshoot the network and infrastructure components of the DISA Cyber Perimeter Sensing Initiative under the SSS PWS. This role is critical to supporting secure, reliable connectivity and data transport for sensor systems across the DoDIN. The engineer will also support system upgrades, baselining, testing, and fielding of new sensor technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze, design, and integrate secure and resilient network solutions to support sensor deployment and data collection within the DISN architecture. Ensure systems and infrastructure operate according to design specifications and performance baselines. Develop and refine network requirements and architecture in support of new sensor capabilities or system refresh efforts. Conduct system site surveys and develop technical instruments to gather requirements and assess readiness. Coordinate and execute system testing, including connectivity validation and performance checks. Provide Tier II/III support for troubleshooting complex networking issues in operational environments. Document functional and system requirements, interface specifications, and technical diagrams. Assist with the migration of legacy data and architecture to modernized platforms. Maintain awareness of new technologies, DISA STIGs, and DoD networking policies and procedures. Support sustainment planning, including lifecycle refresh schedules, patch management, and continuity of operations.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 8+ years in network engineering roles supporting DoD or large-scale enterprise systems. Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Certifications: CCNA or higher highly preferred (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP); DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) also highly preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency in routing/switching, IPsec VPNs, VLANs, multicast, SNMP, and troubleshooting with tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Splunk.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience supporting DISA or DoDIN infrastructure and implementing STIG-compliant solutions. Familiarity with integrating sensors or security appliances (e.g., NIDS/NIPS) into DoD networks. Experience with network baselining, performance tuning, and support for certification & accreditation (C&A) processes. Seniority level
