Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is hiring a
Simulation Software Senior Architect
to support the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program in El Segundo, CA. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite technology in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Duties:
Lead the architecture, design, and development of spacecraft and space environment simulation software to support test-as-you-fly platforms used for software development, testing, mission rehearsal, and training. Serve as the technical subject matter expert for simulation software architecture, guiding current and future development efforts. Develop and document simulation software requirements and software interfaces. Define and direct Software Development and Verification Plans to ensure delivery of high-assurance simulation and testbed platforms. Ensure compliance with Software Quality, Product Security, and Enterprise Design Practices throughout the software lifecycle. Design high-performance simulation strategies for complex interactions between satellite bus and payloads, including power, thermal, communications, command and data handling, guidance and navigation, ground control, mission operations, and redundancies. Contribute to technical volumes and support proposal activities across multiple product lines. Advise program customers on simulation system architecture and maintain open communication with key stakeholders. Lead integration of developmental software products across geographically distributed partners into El Segundo-based satellite simulation architectures. Collaborate with enterprise software teams to ensure process and standards conformance. Provide leadership and mentorship to early-career team members to foster technical growth and collaboration. Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use. Active Secret clearance (or higher). Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. 15 or more years of experience developing commercial software using a compiled programming language such as C, C++, C#, or Java, with exposure to scripting languages like Python or JavaScript. 5 or more years of experience leading software teams as an architect, team lead, or manager. 5 or more years of experience in the space or aerospace domain, with a focus on space vehicles (e.g., satellites, launch systems, orbiters) and/or ground control systems. Experience with software and hardware integration, processor technologies, virtualization, and complex model-driven design, with the ability to define and lead modernization efforts for legacy technology stacks. Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution. Active Top Secret clearance. Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as DoDAF, TOGAF, or similar. Experience with UML or SysML and modeling tools such as Cameo and MATLAB. Experience with Agile software development methodologies. Proficiency with distributed version control systems such as Git and platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket in a DevSecOps environment.
