We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support a major modernization effort involving the redevelopment of two mission-critical applications. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings deep experience with modern application architecture, microservices, and containerized deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with cross-functional teams to design and build robust, scalable software solutions Apply event-driven design methodologies to develop resilient applications Develop backend services using Spring Boot within a microservices framework Build dynamic, user-friendly front-end interfaces using React Work with messaging systems like RabbitMQ (or Kafka, with an understanding of the differences) to implement producers and consumers for asynchronous communication Deploy applications to Kubernetes clusters using CI/CD practices and support monitoring and performance tuning in production environments Write unit tests aiming for 85%+ coverage, conduct peer reviews, and assist with debugging and QA activities Produce technical documentation, including sequence diagrams and architectural decisions, while working closely with product and engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliverables Provide weekly updates, time tracking, and progress reports in accordance with agency standards
Ideal Background
Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, React and/or Angular, and event-driven architectures Experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka for message queuing Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deploying distributed services Knowledge of Elastic Search is a plus Solid understanding of design patterns and RESTful web services Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges collaboratively Seniority level
