Base pay range
$175,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr
Role overview
Edera is seeking a systems-minded Rust Infrastructure & Systems Software Engineer to help build secure container infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and supply chain integrity. The role is ideal for someone who specializes in secure systems, developer workflows, and low-level runtime internals, emphasizing correctness, composability, and automation.
You will work on foundational tooling supporting reproducible pipelines, trusted build artifacts, and container infrastructure integrated with security technologies. Responsibilities include automating tests, release engineering, and developing container internals to ensure confidence at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Rust-based infrastructure components for CI/CD, testing, and release systems.
- Design and implement secure build pipelines with verifiable provenance.
- Champion test automation across various layers.
- Contribute to container runtime and image builder tooling, interfacing with eBPF and Linux distros.
- Develop reusable test frameworks for validating infrastructure across environments.
- Collaborate with the systems team to ensure workflows are performant, reproducible, and secure.
- Work with Kubernetes, Rust, and Linux subsystems, ensuring compatibility across container orchestrators and kernel variants.
- Address high-priority issues with effective communication.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years in systems, infrastructure, or platform engineering roles.
- Fluent in Rust, with a focus on correctness and safety.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bazel).
- Solid understanding of containers, Linux namespaces, rootless technologies, and image formats.
- Familiarity with secure update tools like TUF.
- Experience designing testable infrastructure and automating complex environments.
- Bonus: Experience with Kubernetes internals, build reproducibility, image signing, or systemd stacks.
