Overview AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. This position will be an estimated 1-2 days per week in the office at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA Responsibilities As a Software Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to do the following: Support DoD Software Modernization and Coordination, including developing comprehensive software strategies throughout the DoD acquisition lifecycle. Coordinate with OUSD(A&S), OSD CIO/CDO, the Services, and other agencies' software staffs to ensure comprehensive and efficient software modernization strategies. Utilize recent and relevant software development practices, including Agile methodologies and DevSecOps. Collaborate with stakeholders, DoD contractors, and consultants on technical assessments, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and improve program execution. Perform software and DoD Data Modernization reviews in accordance with DoD assessment guidance and methodology. Qualifications Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering. Excellent writing and analytical skills. DoD secret clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required for obtaining and holding a U.S. security clearance. Experience in creating or updating DoD policy, guidance, or training related to Software Engineering or Modernization, especially in advanced technology areas like AI/ML, autonomy, digital engineering, or data-centric operations. Experience coordinating with OUSD(A&S), OSD CIO/CDO, the Services, and other agencies to ensure effective software modernization strategies. Knowledge of current DevSecOps pipelines and supporting technologies, including agile development tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Gitlab) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker). Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency. The salary range for this position is USD $91,600 to $153,000 per year.
