Overview
We are seeking a Junior Quality Assurance Analyst to support enterprise software and data quality efforts at a federal agency. The Junior QA Analyst will assist in developing and executing test plans, identifying and documenting defects, and working closely with QA leads, developers, and analysts to ensure that federal systems meet established quality and functional standards. The candidate must have experience with writing and executing test cases based on requirements or user stories, demonstrate a strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality software delivery. This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area, requiring on-site presence three days per week. Responsibilities
Assist in the execution of manual test cases for applications, data workflows, and reporting systems. Support functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing activities. Document defects clearly and accurately using tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps and assist with retesting and validation. Validate data quality and consistency using basic SQL queries against relational databases. Participate in test planning sessions and requirements reviews to understand the scope of testing. Review and validate documentation, including user guides and test artifacts, for completeness and accuracy. Ensure testing follows agency's quality standards, accessibility (Section 508), and security compliance requirements. Collaborate with QA leads, developers, and analysts to troubleshoot issues and verify resolutions. Required Skills
Experience with writing and executing test cases based on requirements or user stories. Working knowledge of issue tracking and test documentation tools (e.g., Jira and Azure DevOps). Familiarity with SQL and relational databases. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to follow defined processes and document results clearly. Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting federal clients or working within judicial, legal, or government systems. Exposure to testing REST APIs, automated testing tools, or accessibility compliance. Understanding of Agile or hybrid SDLC environments. Familiarity with test case management systems and QA best practices. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical field. Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in a testing role supporting enterprise software or data systems.
