SteerBridge Strategies, a Veteran-led small business, is seeking
Senior Data Engineers
to join our growing team based at our headquarters in Tysons Corner (Vienna, VA). This role plays a critical part in supporting a high-impact federal initiative by modernizing and optimizing complex data systems at scale.

What You'll Do: As a
Senior Data Engineer , you'll lead the development of scalable, secure data pipelines and mentor mid-level engineers while collaborating across data science, engineering, and federal teams. You will: Design, develop, and maintain batch and real-time data ingestion pipelines Architect and manage data lakes for structured and unstructured data Use tools like
Apache Airflow ,
AWS Glue ,
Apache Kafka , and
SQL/Python
for transformation and workflow automation Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and compliance across platforms Integrate with cloud-based storage and streaming systems (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob) Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and developers to support secure, scalable data products Document data pipelines, standards, and engineering best practices Provide technical leadership and mentor junior and mid-level engineers Required Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship
and the ability to obtain a government security clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field 7+ years
of experience in data engineering or data pipeline development Strong proficiency in
Python ,
SQL , and
cloud platforms
(AWS, Azure, or GCP) Hands-on experience with
Apache Airflow ,
Kafka ,
AWS Glue , or similar tools Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with modern data lake architecture and ETL frameworks Knowledge of real-time data streaming and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, CCPA, NIST) Strong data modeling skills and ability to translate requirements into scalable solutions Excellent communication and mentoring skills across technical and non-technical teams Location:
Must be local to the Washington, D.C. area and able to work
on-site at our Vienna, VA office (5 days/week) . Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.
