Job Summary/Company :
Sparks Group, partnered with a local government finance department, is seeking a skilled
Accountant
for temporary support. This role involves comprehensive financial and accounting management of capital projects, grants, and debt, requiring expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance within a government accounting environment. Responsibilities : Manage financial reporting and accounting for capital projects, grants, and debt. Handle project setup, analysis of capital and grant funds and revenue sources, project classification, and closeout. Perform reconciliations and assist with the annual audit, year-end close, and financial reporting. Collaborate cross-departmentally on complex project issues and provide support for ad-hoc projects and analysis. Prepare journal entries and reconciliations, research, and develop work papers to support the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Contribute to other department areas as needed.
Qualifications/Background Profile : Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. 3-4 years of related professional accounting experience, preferably in a government accounting setting. Strong general ledger skills with the ability to perform financial analysis outside of subledger system generated transactions. Experience with a major ERP system like Oracle is preferred. Prior experience with state, local, or education (SLED) clients is a strong plus.
