CNN’s Climate & Weather team seeks a journalist with experience in creating graphics, interactives, and automated data visualization libraries to inform audiences during extreme weather events and climate crises. The ideal candidate will work with large datasets, utilize programming tools, and develop visual content that enhances understanding of climate risks and impacts. Responsibilities include: Develop data-driven stories and visualizations on climate change and weather Create and edit graphics, maps, charts, and interactive content Collaborate with journalists and subject-matter experts Ensure visualizations meet journalistic standards Integrate with CNN’s digital infrastructure and collaborate across teams Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience in newsroom or web visualization Proficiency in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, git, Svelte) Strong data analysis skills (Python, SQL, R) Experience with raster/geospatial data, mapping tools (D3, QGIS, Mapbox) Ability to communicate complex data clearly and meet deadlines Additional Info:
