CoStar Group, a leading provider of real estate information and analytics, is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer for their Matterport division. This role is crucial in leading the design and development of embedded firmware for next-generation hardware products.
The position is based in Sunnyvale, CA, and requires on-site presence Monday through Friday. As a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing embedded systems that power Matterport's groundbreaking spatial computing platform, which transforms buildings into valuable digital twins across 170+ countries.
The role demands deep technical expertise in embedded systems and leadership in cross-functional engineering efforts. You'll be responsible for architecting robust, scalable firmware solutions while working closely with hardware, systems, and product teams. Key responsibilities include implementing low-level firmware, leading architecture design, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of embedded firmware development experience, strong proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained environments, and extensive knowledge of real-time operating systems. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $198,700 to $294,200 annually, plus comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401(k) matching, and various wellness perks.

Responsibilities For Sr. Staff Systems Engineer, Firmware & Embedded
- Design and implement high-quality, low-level firmware for embedded systems
- Lead firmware architecture design and code reviews
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and product teams
- Drive root-cause analysis and debugging
- Develop and maintain automated test infrastructure
- Stay current with industry trends
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware development
- Proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained environments
- Strong knowledge of real-time operating systems
- Experience with hardware bring-up, board support packages
- Experience in application development, iOS and Android
- Proficient with debugging tools
