One of our companies is currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer in United States .
We’re seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to build and optimize high-impact features across a modern Ruby on Rails platform. You will contribute to clean, scalable architecture, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help guide product direction through technical leadership. In this fully remote role (Eastern/Central US time zones preferred), you’ll work on complex engineering problems and mentor team members to help shape the engineering culture and practices. You’ll also have a strong voice in architectural decisions and play a key role in setting development standards.
Accountabilities:
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Ruby on Rails, with some use of Python and TypeScript
- Lead architectural design and establish engineering best practices across projects
- Mentor and support junior engineers through pairing sessions and code reviews
- Collaborate with product, QA, actuarial, and insurance teams to deliver robust solutions
- Develop and maintain scalable APIs and contribute to event-driven system design
- Participate in daily standups, retrospectives, and technical planning
- Contribute to the creation of technical roadmaps and long-term engineering strategies
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Minimum 5 years working with Ruby on Rails in a production environment
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases; experience with NoSQL a plus
- Experience in designing API-first, scalable applications
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and AWS or Databricks data tools
- Proven experience mentoring team members and setting engineering standards
- Able to work autonomously with minimal technical direction
- Strong communication skills and ability to justify technical decisions to stakeholders
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-style environment
- Residing in or able to work full-time from one of the 40 eligible U.S. states
