25551 Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position is a key role within the Department of Operating Room Service. The Central Sterile Supervisor/OR Support Service Supervisor of the Surgical Processing division requires outstanding communication and critical thinking skills. The incumbent has a strong clinical background to assist in training staff to perform duties as Surgical Processing Technicians, including decontamination and processing of equipment and instrumentation, and distribution of supplies or equipment, as assigned within UCLA Healthcare. The supervisor also orients, supervises, and evaluates Surgical Processing Instrument Technicians. Other major duties include customer service and improving departmental efficiencies. The supervisor must be able to maintain, prioritize, and expedite workflow. They work with the Clinical Educator to conduct orientation, training programs, and staff development. Job Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Sterile Processing environment. Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Tech or Surgical Tech Certification preferred. In-depth knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization standards.
