Job Description: Sterile Processing Technician
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This position is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in a clinical environment. The Sterile Processing Technician will work a Day 5x8-hour shift from 07:00 AM to 03:30 PM, with no weekend or on-call requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and equipment used in surgeries and patient care.
- Proficiently use sterilization processes, including steam sterilization and Sterrad Testing.
- Organize and assemble surgical trays according to established protocols, ensuring proper labeling and selection of wrapping materials.
- Perform manual cleaning and operate washers/sterilizers and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Adhere to safety and infection control policies, using appropriate biological and chemical indicators for decontamination.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all required instruments and supplies are prepared and stocked.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the sterile processing department.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing, preferably in an acute hospital setting.
- Valid New York State license required in hand to submit.
- Certification: Certified Surgical Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPD) or Certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM).
- Experience with EPIC charting system is a hard requirement.
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
- Ability to float between different units as needed.
Additional Information:
- No weekend coverage required.
- One pre-approved time off during the contract period.
- Orientation hours will be provided.
- This role is essential for the effective functioning of surgical and healthcare services.
