Overview
Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations. Enforces facility policies, and helps maintain a clean training center and equipment. Obtains and documents pertinent medical history, performance of specific assessments, initial status, progress, goals and results. Supervises the teaching of clients through instruction and demonstrations utilizing movement mechanics, sport specific exercise modalities, and the individual client's physical capabilities.
Enables athletes to perform to their physical potential in their sport through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength and fitness training programs; develops programs by evaluating current physical conditioning, having a knowledge of the various sports and associated exercises, tailoring strength programs for specific needs, demonstrating proper performance of exercises, correcting mistakes; manages programs by monitoring progress and providing an assessment of development. Consistently follows safe work practices during all job-related activities which includes following recommended use guidelines for patient treatment related equipment. In accordance with our service standards, holds safety first for all patients, visitors and team members, and patient and staff interactions. Ensures that associates of MedStar Health's Strength & Conditioning Program minimizes the likelihood of sports related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pretraining session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and working with qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers during all training sessions and contest. Handles accounts receivable and management of all client accounts. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Provides supervision, evaluation, hiring and/or termination of all Strength & Conditioning associates. Qualifications: 3-4 years of strength and conditioning program supervision experience required. Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field. CPR certification (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required within 90 days of employment. CSCS Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, or SCCC Certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or Health Fitness Instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine.Preference for additional credentials. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $29.15 - $51.68
