We are seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant to support the practice onsite, Monday through Friday picking up a minimum of two, 8-hour shifts a month from 8:00am-4:30pm. Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Under the direction of a physician or an advanced practitioner our Medical Assistants are dedicated to clinical support. The Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner. Our current Medical Assistant model is to work 1 to 1 with their providers. Responsibilities include: Coordinates pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues), ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of electronic charts, etc. Escorts patients to the exam rooms and take vital signs. Cleans and restocks exam rooms. Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to: EKG's and point of care testing. Provides assistance to providers with office procedures. Sends in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers, medical authorization and medical reconciliation. Communicates with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status. Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Managing ones own time and the time of others.
