Shift 2 Job Summary:
Serves as a department expert, responsible for ensuring standards are met for sterilization processes, record keeping, and staff competencies during the assigned shift. Ensures staff adherence to regulatory and clinical standards for sterilization of equipment and supplies. Oversees policies, procedures, and practices in the sterile processing department, including decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and reprocessed supplies management to support quality patient care. Manages personnel on the shift. Other duties as assigned. Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of hospital-based Sterile Processing Department experience required. Leadership experience involving instrument reprocessing or as a lead/charge tech, educator, or trainer in Sterile Processing is required. Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. An Associate or Bachelors degree in a related field or Central Service/Sterile Processing Tech internship/training is preferred. Skills:
Knowledge of Infection Control, JCAHO Standards, asepsis, surgical techniques, instrumentation, and Sterile Processing equipment. Effective communication and leadership skills. Ability to compile data and produce reports. Technical expertise in sterilization and operating equipment. Competent computer skills. Licensure:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD required within 18 months of employment. Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) is preferred within 18 months. Perks & Benefits:
