Systems Administrator - II/ENGINEER UNIX – PLATFORM ENGINEERING Contract America Networks is a leading sensor and networking solutions partner for companies in the Industrial, Manufacturing, and Waste management sectors. We design and manufacture sensors for storage tanks, water metering, energy metering, gas monitoring, and asset management. Our founders are experienced telecommunications engineers with over 200 years of combined experience in designing, optimizing, and performance engineering for major wireless carriers globally. They identified the need to provide low power, cost-efficient sensors for data collection, alerts, and predictive actions, integrating these sensors with LPWA networking technologies to reduce operational costs of IoT networks. We specialize in designing, deploying, optimizing, and supporting these networks. Whether off-the-shelf or custom solutions are required, we create tailored solutions and deploy data on the most suitable cloud platform, including client-specific options. Location: DFW Airport, TX, USA Engineer UNIX – Platform Engineering The engineer will serve as the primary support for customer systems, infrastructure, and daily management. They will collaborate with Service Delivery Managers and internal teams to ensure successful ongoing support and administration. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining system/network flow diagrams, custom monitors, RTS documents, knowledge base articles, and proactive service improvements. The engineer must be available for escalations 24/7 on an on-call basis and conduct ongoing training for support personnel. They will identify and resolve recurring technical issues and act as the SME for customer environments, advising on upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Minimum qualifications include: Associate degree required; bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred. 7+ years’ experience in UNIX OS administration, with last 5 years on Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Intel x86-64, RHCSA v5 or above. 5+ years experience with enterprise server hardware platforms (e.g., HP Proliant, IBM xSeries, CISCO UCS, Sun Microsystems). 5+ years scripting experience (UNIX shells, PERL). Hands-on experience with storage/SAN products (EMC, NetApp). 5+ years virtualization experience with VMWare vSphere/ESXi v5.x+. Experience with system management tools (HP OpenView, HP Server Automation, HP Network Automation, HP Operations Orchestration, Remedy). Strong knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP, DNS/BIND). Understanding of business functions and technical decision impacts. Ability to work independently and in teams, providing customer-focused service. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Strong planning skills and ability to work under pressure. Preferred qualifications include: ITIL v3 Foundation certification. RHCE certification (v5+). Oracle DB troubleshooting/support experience. Technical lead or escalation experience. Experience with blade servers (Intel, AMD) using UNIX/Linux. Familiarity with system management tools and development principles. Developer experience in PHP, Ruby, Python. #J-18808-Ljbffr
