Summary:
Seeking an experienced Hardware and Software Test Engineer with a strong background in system-level testing to join a Test & Integration team in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in testing Mission Critical and/or Air Traffic Management systems, network infrastructure, and radio-telephone communications software and hardware elements. Responsibilities include conducting and supporting informal testing, customer acceptance testing, and other test activities. The candidate will interface with customers and partners on a technical level, discussing system-level and site-specific requirements and test plans.
Duties:
Design, develop, and execute test procedures for hardware and software components.
Understand testing principles, including thorough documentation, test coverage, traceability, and verification methods.
Perform various tests: functional, maintenance/reliability, stability/load, performance, security, voice quality, and environmental.
Plan verification strategies and test specifications based on requirements and use case scenarios.
Manage test environment, scripts, and equipment.
Document defects and anomalies with reproduction steps.
Review system and software requirements for testability.
Maintain organized records of test results and perform analysis.
Communicate issues and project details with teams and stakeholders.
Must have the following experience:
At least 5 years of hands-on testing hardware and software in Air Traffic Management, Radio Control, or VoIP systems.
Experience with digital and analog telecommunications, including VoIP and radio systems.
Development of system-level test procedures for mission-critical equipment.
Experience with telecommunications technologies (VoIP, T1, ISDN, POTS, TDM).
Ability to write clear test plans and document defects.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years).
Additional desired experience includes:
Use of industry-standard test tools and equipment (e.g., Oscilloscope, TIMS, Multimeter, Viavi T-BERD, Sage).
Performance and analysis testing tools (e.g., VOTER, GL Comm TDM).
Knowledge of standards like ED-137, MIL-STD-461G, FCC 47 Part B, FAA-G-2100H, FAA NextGen, DO-278A.
Network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark).
Linux OS and IP network skills.
Experience with bug-tracking (JIRA) and test management (JAMA) systems.
Understanding of test methodologies, Agile/Scrum processes, and project lifecycles.
