Exempt Summary
Architect III is a fully licensed architect with a minimum of eight years of architecture-related experience. This role involves designing projects of medium to large size and complexity, providing technical design expertise, and overseeing large, complex projects from planning to completion. The architect applies advanced concepts, develops innovative solutions, and may mentor less experienced staff. The position is distinguished from a senior architect by project size and scope. Requirements
Essential Functions
Work independently as a licensed architect, responsible for plans, specifications, and material approvals. Participate in conceptual design and support throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate planning and development of construction documents, ensuring high quality and technical accuracy. Conduct construction administration duties including site visits, RFIs, submittals, and punch list reviews. Collaborate with project management, architects, and consultants. Lead technical discussions and develop innovative design solutions. Prepare reports, specifications, and review plans, estimates, and calculations. Manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans in coordination with the Project Manager. Monitor personal billing and contribute to team efficiency and quality. Coordinate with clients, team members, consultants, and contractors to build trust. Provide leadership to project teams including architects, associates, and interns. Lead client meetings and contribute to project analysis and planning. Innovate and contribute to bold, community-impacting design solutions. Assist in marketing efforts and lead client presentations. Competencies
Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp or Rhino; Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray are a plus. Strong knowledge of zoning, building codes, and agency requirements. Balanced design and technical skills, with experience in construction documentation and administration. Excellent communication, organizational, and client presentation skills. Passion for client service and collaborative work ethic. Certification Requirements
Licensed Architect certification required. NCARB certification as needed. LEED AP and sustainable design experience preferred. Supervisory Requirements
May lead and mentor project staff. Work Environment
Office environment with collaborative work areas; construction sites may involve varying conditions. Physical Demands
Dexterity, ability to lift documents, sit for long periods. Position Details
Full-time, 40 hours/week, with occasional travel. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture; minimum of eight years of experience. Work Authorization
