Leading a team of software engineers responsible for the development, calibration, and test of vehicle functional control system software. The Software Engineering Manager will also develop a support structure for various applications, from vehicle charging and operation to communication interfaces. The Software Engineering Manager will be the go-to technical lead on everything software-related and will set the organization's software strategy to make OEV best-in-class. Position Responsibilities
Work with key suppliers to create and improve firmware to enhance product performance. Collaborate with Field Service to address key customer needs and issues. Coordinate with Sales to understand customer needs and develop market-driven design solutions. Ensure hardware and software solutions are seamlessly integrated into the vehicle, including propulsion, hydraulic, pneumatic, and cab systems. Ensure projects are completed within the specified cost, performance, and timeline. Communicate project progress via internal project management tools. Develop the technology roadmap for designated systems and hardware/software. Supervise team output, providing mentorship through regular code reviews and design critiques. Own the technical implementation of software and controls for AC and DC systems, power conversion, and customer interface systems. Drive the architecture, design, and development of all embedded software, from battery management to high-speed sensors and motor controllers. Own, develop, and test embedded software, from low-level hardware drivers to real-time control and signal processing algorithms. Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited university; graduate degree preferred. Strong interpersonal and team coaching skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in C language and embedded software systems. Minimum of 10 years of experience in software and controls development. Minimum of 5 years of direct management experience in a similar role. Expertise in software configuration and change management practices. Ideal Candidates Will Also Have
A strong background in software development, project management, and team leadership, with a passion for making a meaningful impact. Previous product development experience.
