The Firmware and Hardware Engineering Manager
1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants The Firmware and Hardware Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, testing, and documentation of AiRISTA’s hardware product line. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the manager leads the engineering team’s daily operations and serves as the subject matter expert for all firmware and hardware initiatives. This role requires a combination of hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities to drive innovation, quality, and collaboration across departments. The manager works closely with Product Management, Professional Services, and Operations to ensure alignment with business goals, while also contributing to the strategic planning of AiRISTA’s hardware technology roadmap. Key Responsibilities: - Managing all firmware and hardware development projects to ensure timely, cost- effective delivery that meets defined specifications. - Overseeing the execution of test plans and validation protocols that align with internal quality standards and regulatory guidelines. - Playing a key role in the implementation and adherence to AiRISTA’s Quality Management System (QMS). - Maintaining version-controlled technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, design files, firmware, and enclosure specifications. - Coordinating with manufacturing partners by preparing and delivering complete technical handoff packages. - Developing and maintaining clear firmware release notes and ensuring procedures are kept current. - Acting as the primary liaison between the engineering team and other business units to provide support, troubleshooting, and technical insights. - Guiding the team in technology selection and development strategies to support future hardware innovation. - Supporting product certifications and compliance with relevant industry standards. Preferred Requirements & Skills: Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in firmware development, PCB design, or mechanical product design are a plus. Experience : - Minimum 3 years of experience managing or leading engineering teams in - Proven track record of delivering embedded system products from concept to production. Technical Proficiency: - Proficiency in C programming and embedded systems using TI and Nordic SDKs. - Knowledge of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and BLE. - Experience with PCB and chip-level design as well as plastic molding for enclosures. - Familiarity with tools such as Autodesk Fusion 360, XpertFlashProgrammer, and other embedded development environments. - Understanding of ISO standards, regulatory compliance, and quality documentation. Additional Skills: - Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for cross-functional collaboration and documentation. - Ability to analyze complex hardware/software interactions and drive root-cause investigations.
