Field Technician Career Description
Insight Technical Advisors is a rapidly growing IT/MSP provider serving the Triangle’s small business community. We are passionate about building relationships with our clients by providing outstanding customer care, communication and service levels. We seek a field technician that shares our passion for serving customers, along with the required technical skills. In this home-based position, you’ll join a team of highly committed professionals, and serve our customers in both a help desk and field tech role. We are looking for customer skills first, followed by technical skills and creativity to identify, research and resolve client issues.
Essential Functions
- Tier 1 help desk support. Fielding inbound calls, diagnosing, and resolving tickets.
- Field client support. Roughly 25% of your time will be in the field, serving clients on their site.
- Provides support to employees or customers regarding technical inquiries, diagnoses to isolate the nature of the problem and resolves support issues.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves software, hardware, and network failures.
- Performs the installation, configuration, upgrades, repair and preventative maintenance of software, hardware and/or systems.
- Thoroughly documents cases to ensure continuity of information and adherence to customer service standards.
- Maintains awareness of current tools, methodologies and technologies associated to IT support.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- 18 months minimum experience in a technical support environment.
- Understanding and knowledge of network-related issues
- Experience working with Microsoft platform (Office 365, various operating systems)
- Experience with Domain Control/Active Directory
- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Experience with networking, including firewalls. Extra credit for Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti experience.
- MSP/IT Consulting experience is a HUGE plus.
- Apple support experience is a plus
