Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations. Facilitate legitimate trade and travel. Inspect individuals and conveyances. Assess admissibility of individuals entering the U.S. Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of prohibited goods and drugs. Duty locations and incentives
Locations include Nogales, San Luis, Calexico, Los Angeles, and others across the U.S. Incentives of 10%-25% of salary are available for certain locations, with higher incentives for specific duty stations like San Francisco and Otay Mesa. Salary and benefits
Starting GS-9 salary ranges from $61,111 to $124,443 annually, with potential overtime pay up to $45,000. Promotions are available after 52 weeks at each grade. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave. Qualifications
To qualify for GS-9, candidates need at least one year of specialized experience or equivalent education. Experience includes law enforcement duties such as detaining violators, enforcing laws, conducting interviews, and using intelligence techniques. Additional requirements
U.S. citizenship, primary residency in the U.S for at least three of the last five years, age restrictions (must be under 40 unless prior federal service), and successful completion of training at FLETC are required. Veterans' preference may apply. How to apply
