Overview:
A leading manufacturer of engineered HVAC systems is seeking a
Mechanical Designer
to join their team in
Plymouth, MN . This role will support custom product development efforts, focusing on sustaining engineering, configurator logic, and design documentation for specialized HVAC solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize SolidWorks and proprietary tools to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs
Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support product customization
Work with automated systems and legacy design programs for data management and configuration
Design solutions within a product configurator framework, ensuring manufacturability and compliance
Generate and maintain fabrication drawings, purchase drawings, and engineering instructions
Troubleshoot manufacturing and automation-related issues
Contribute to process improvement and automation workflows
Translate 3D layouts into production-ready documentation and support system logic for configurators
Qualifications
Degree, diploma, or vocational training in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software (professional, academic, or )
Strong attention to detail; skilled in creating accurate drawings, BOMs, and documentation
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, product design, and engineering documentation
Effective communicator; works well with Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and cross-functional teams
Experience with HVAC systems, sheet metal design, or custom manufacturing is a plus
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position, requiring 2–3 days onsite per week at the Plymouth, MN location. The remaining days may be worked remotely, based on team needs and performance. Candidates should be located within commuting distance and comfortable with a flexible onsite schedule.
