This role focuses on both financial technology and financial transformation through process improvement/optimization. In this role, the Senior Financial Analyst (Finance Transformation) builds technical solutions to improve key financial processes throughout the CFO organization. These processes the analyst is working to improve include: budgeting, forecasting, historical financial variance analysis, and internal financial reporting processes. The analyst identifies areas of improvement to existing processes by working directly with financial analysts across the organization currently using existing processes, key business IT partners, and at times outside vendors. The analyst devises or modifies existing processes to improve company productivity and automate routine tasks, and will directly use a broad range of tools to build solutions including: Alteryx, PowerQuery, Power BI, SQL Databases, Snowflake, python, VBA, or other data and programming tools. The analyst may also use data engineering concepts and ETL/ELT tools to as well, and may build data pipelines between key financial systems (SAP, budgeting software like Anaplan) to visualization tools like Power BI. In general, the analyst will build tools to improve the productivity of the CFO organization and its employees. The analyst will work with, and build solutions for, a broad array of finance teams including: Dominion Energy Virginia Finance, Dominion Energy South Carolina Finance, Dominion Energy Contracted Finance, Treasury, and FP&A, just to name a few. In order to build effective tools for financial analysts / the CFO organization, this role requires the analyst to have financial acumen and financial background as well as the previously mentioned technical skills. This includes having basic understanding of key accrual accounting concepts, working knowledge of GAAP, familiarity with the three financial statements, and familiarity with financial modeling best practices. Having this financial background, paired with the previously mentioned technical skills, will help the analyst be successful in their role at improving financial processes. Senior Financial Analyst - 5+ years directly related experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience). Finance experience or education highly preferred Experience in building dashboards and automation solutions for internal customers using tools such as: Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, Python, VBA, SQL, Share Point Experience with Anaplan or OneStream is desirable but not required Experience in building 3 financial statement projections models General understanding of GAAP and accounting principles preferred Experience with SAP is preferred Technical knowledge in multiple areas, including: systems design/integration/automation, large-scale data gathering/manipulation/integration, database design/integration, proficiency with ERP and other financial systems, proficiency with budgeting software Direct experience in key financial processes such as forecasting, budgeting, and historical variance analysis Demonstrated competency in verbal communications, written communications, and interpersonal understanding Excellent ability to research and understand financial customer and technology business requirements Strong communication skills and experience in communicating with / providing solutions and support for less technically savvy financial analysts Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust, as this role supports all finance functions Ability to manage work and perform varied duties simultaneously Experience in developing talent of less experienced employees Ability to analyze problems and think logically and innovatively Achievement orientation Flexible, self-starter Ability to maintain self-control Ability to work under deadlines Bachelor preferred in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or similar degree. Experience accepted in lieu of preferred degree. Office Work Environment 76 -100%. Travel up to 25%.
