Job Summary TheUniversity of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, one-year, non-renewable non-tenure-track faculty position of Visiting Instructoror Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics in the School ofMathematics and Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to beginin August 2025. The position is oriented towards effective undergraduateinstruction and there is no research requirement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 12 semester credit hours per semester Curriculum Development Service commensurate with expectations of all faculty Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree (for appointment at the rank of Visiting Instructor)or Doctorate (for appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant TeachingProfessor) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field with at least18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Ability to engage in effectiveteaching.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to articulate concepts and instructions effectively to students. Capacity to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues. Skill in managing course materials, time, and administrative tasks like grading. Familiarity with standard software for communication and potentially online learning platforms. Ability to pay attention to detail, which is necessary for accurate grading, lab safety adherence, and following procedures.
Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching introductory mathematics or mathematicseducation courses at the college level. Experience teaching online courses.Experience mentoring mathematics education students. Experience withrecruitment.
