The Luther Burbank School District, a K-8 single-school district, is seeking a dynamic and creative educator to serve as our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) teacher.
We welcome applicants who hold either a Multiple Subject Credential with a supplemental authorization in VAPA or a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music with authorization to teach other VAPA disciplines. The ideal candidate is passionate about arts education and committed to inspiring student creativity through engaging instruction in visual and/or performing arts.
This elementary-level position plays a vital role in promoting arts integration, student engagement, and standards-based instruction within a supportive and collaborative school community.

Job Description
I. PRIMARY FUNCTION
The primary function of the classroom teacher assigned to the elementary school is to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge through an educational program for pupils in grades K- 8.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Student:
1. Assess pupil needs and prescribe appropriate learning activities .
2. Evaluate attitudes and academic progress in relation to established bjectives,
3. Identify special problems and refer children to appropriate programs, following-up when advisable.
4. Provide classroom instruction to meet differing learning styles and levels of student performance.
5. Maintain a classroom that encourages development of positive self-image, and interaction in the learning process.
6. Develop and maintain, cooperatively with students, classroom behavior standards and work habits that facilitate learning.
7. Supervise students on yard and field trip activities.
B. Parents:
1. Provide opportunity for at least two conferences a year and others as needed.
2. Provide opportunities for parent information and observation.
3. Cooperatively plan with parents for students needing special assistance (health, emotiona1 and instructional).
C. Staff:
1. Cooperate in a professional manner with other staff members by participating in:
? Faculty meetings
? School service
? Special committees
? Parent-teacher organizations
? Grade level, or team planning
D. School/District:
1. Participate in district in service
2. Participate in district Curriculum Committees.
III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned by the building Superintendent-Principal or Designee, delegated by faculty committees, or requested by the district office.

V. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Credential
1. Appropriate California Teaching Credential
B. Education:
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Completion of courses specified by California State Credential Requirements
C. Experience:
1. Previous teaching experience or successful student teaching
D. Personal Qualities:
1. Ability to organize time and resources
2. Ability to relate effectively to children, other faculty member s, parents and community members
3. Ability to participate in group decision-making and accept and abide by group decision.
