The Web Administrator reports to the Director of Creative and Production in Communications and performs highly complex (senior-level) web design and content development work. This role manages and will assist in the migration of multiple related sites of the Texas Education Agency's flagship website, which has over 3,000 pages. The Web Administrator collaborates closely with the IT Web Services team and acts as a liaison between the Communications Division and the IT Web Services team. This position will collaborate with content managers to ensure a smooth transition of web content and functionality. The Web Administrator should have experience with the Drupal content management system (CMS), a strong understanding of web and accessibility standards, and a proven track record of executing complex web designs. Responsibilities include preparing graphics, text, and tables; updating web content and assisting web contributors; determining the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy; ensuring PDF accessibility; and other related tasks. This position balances technical expertise with effective communication and represents the Communications team in cross-departmental projects. The Web Administrator works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Assist in planning and executing multiple website migrations of the Texas Education Agency's flagship website, ensuring content is current, functional, accessible, and user-friendly. Collaborate with the IT Web Services team to optimize website performance for speed, reliability, and scalability. Test code, designs, and content for validity and compatibility across browsers and devices. Monitor website analytics and performance metrics. Serve as the main contact between the Communications Division and the IT Web Services team, translating technical requirements into effective communication strategies. Coordinate and assist web contributors with content implementation, updates, and infrastructure enhancements. Collaborate with content managers for a smooth content transition. Troubleshoot issues during migration, providing timely resolutions. Maintain website content accuracy and consistency. Implement best practices for performance, security, and SEO. Administer and update content through Drupal CMS, maintaining content creation, navigation, governance, and quality standards. Support content contributors across departments to ensure CMS adherence and content standards. Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and other relevant guidelines. Collaborate with the IT Web Services team to address accessibility issues and implement best design and development practices. Provide accessibility support for various digital formats to ensure content accessibility. Candidate Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must meet or exceed the following experience and skills to be considered: 7+ years of web administration and web design experience managing large-scale websites. Proven experience with Drupal CMS, including content creation, taxonomy, and navigation. Strong portfolio demonstrating complex web design and UI/UX understanding. Experience with website content management and ongoing maintenance. Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA). Knowledge of SEO and website performance optimization techniques. Familiarity with responsive design and mobile-first strategies. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Additional Information
