Overview
The Aerospace Quality Bench Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of aerospace components, assemblies, and subassemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This role supports production and maintenance teams by identifying non-conformances and ensuring only quality products move forward in the process.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform
visual and dimensional inspections
on aerospace parts using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
Document inspection results clearly and accurately in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Identify, document, and report
non-conformances ; participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
Ensure parts conform to
customer-specific
quality standards.
Conduct
in-process, first article, and final inspections
as needed.
Maintain inspection tools and ensure calibration records are up to date.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to support continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure a clean and organized inspection area compliant with safety and 5S principles.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2–5 years of quality inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
Proficient in reading and interpreting
technical drawings
and
GD&T
(Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Strong knowledge of
AS9100 ,
ISO 9001 , and other aerospace quality standards.
Experience with common aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, composites).
Familiarity with basic computer systems and inspection software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP/QMS systems).
Preferred:
CMM operation/programming experience.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed at an inspection bench or work table in a manufacturing or repair facility.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand/sit for extended periods.
May be exposed to oils, solvents, and moderate noise.
