The General Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, overall management, and operational performance of Lansing Venues, including the Lansing Center (convention center), Jackson Field (leased minor league baseball stadium with facility oversight), and Groesbeck Golf Course (municipal golf course). This role requires a dynamic executive leader with experience overseeing multi-venue operations, developing high-performing teams, managing public-private partnerships, and driving economic and community impact through events and tourism. Essential duties include promoting venues to maximize usage and revenue, serving as liaison with the City of Lansing and local agencies, overseeing agreements and contracts, directing all venue departments, implementing corporate and client directives, developing strategic plans and capital projects, maintaining relationships with marketing organizations, ensuring service and safety standards, representing venues publicly, managing budgets and financial reports, mentoring leadership teams, and performing other duties to support venue success. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, training, performance appraisal, and employee relations. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or public administration or equivalent experience, 5-7 years senior management experience in a convention center or similar complex, strong relationships with convention and hospitality sectors, entrepreneurial focus, budget management experience, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with municipal agency processes and capital planning.
