Senior Network
Engineer
is a senior-level technical expert responsible for delivering advanced network operations support across managed service environments. This role acts as a key escalation point for complex technical incidents, serves as a liaison between customers and engineering teams, and takes ownership of high-impact issues and critical events. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, a strong customer service mindset, and exceptional problem-solving skills. This position requires 710 years of hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies , including FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, and other security appliances. The role includes proactive monitoring, incident response, environment optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal network performance and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Provide Tier III technical support for managed service clients via phone, email, and ticketing systems. Troubleshoot and optimize enterprise LAN/WAN and wireless networks, including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and servers. Take ownership of major outages and high-priority incidents, coordinating internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure timely resolution. Analyze network monitoring data to identify trends, chronic issues, and areas for improvement; recommend and implement long-term solutions. Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Mentor Level I and II NOC engineers and deliver advanced training sessions to promote skill development and team efficiency. Manage customer escalations with professionalism and a focus on resolution and communication. Collaborate with engineers, account managers, and leadership to design and implement environment improvements. Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and respond to after-hours incidents or escalations as needed. Assist with project deployments, upgrades, and other tasks to enhance network reliability and security. Required Qualifications 710 years of experience with Fortinet technologies , including deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of FortiGate firewalls and related security solutions. 5+ years of experience in supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure, routers, switches, and wireless systems. 5+ years of hands-on technical support in a NOC or managed services environment. Strong experience with DNS, SMTP, SNMP, and other core networking protocols. Experience with voice technologies such as VoIP, PBX, POTS, or PSTN is preferred. Proficiency with ticketing systems such as ConnectWise (or similar). Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer priorities simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Certifications & Education Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP)
required or actively in progress ITIL Foundations or similar certification preferred Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field preferred Travel Occasional travel to customer locations or company headquarters may be required. Working Conditions Primarily office-based in
Nashville, TN , with optional hybrid/remote flexibility. Must be able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed. Seniority level
