About the Position The City of Saint Paul is seeking a dedicated Workers Compensation Claims Processor to play a vital role on the Risk Management Team in supporting injured employees and ensuring claims are handled with accuracy, timeliness, and care. Receives, reviews, and enters First Report of Injury forms for incidents, medical only, and lost time medical claims. Provides daily communication and is a point of contact for injured employees/supervisors, medical providers, nurse case navigators, and medical providers. Logs information into claims software (RMIS) - Origami Risk. Approves or denies payment of medical bills by third party. Handles multiple claims and prioritizes work. Updates files to reflect state laws and periodic benefits adjustments. Reviews claims to ensure proper guidelines and workers compensation laws are followed. Information Specific to this Position: The current full-time position is in downtown Saint Paul in the City Hall Annex Building, working for the Department of Talent and Equity Resources/Human Resources - Risk Management section. The City of Saint Paul is self-insured, self-administers and handles workers compensation medical claims and lost time. Office Hours: 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. (flexible scheduling is allowed if the core hours of 9:00a.m.- 3:00p.m. are covered).
Ideal candidates have knowledge of Minnesota workers compensation statutes, laws, and rules, experience working with a Risk Management Information System (RMIS), reinsurance, and self-insured and self-administered claims. An ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain accuracy of work are necessary skills for this position.

Position Requirements High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) and four years of clerical/administrative experience, one year of experience must include the processing of Workers Compensation medical claims and medical bills.
Two years of job-related, post high school education can be substituted for two years of clerical/administrative experience.
No substitution for workers compensation experience.
