This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list for future full-time, part-time and limited-term vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next 12-month period. Youth Development Program Coordinator
to plan, coordinate, and evaluate youth-focused services that promote education, leadership, and personal growth. This role works collaboratively with schools, families, service providers, and community partners to ensure youth have access to meaningful resources and opportunities. The Youth Development Program Coordinator classification is flexibly staffed and may be filled at either the I (entry-level) or II (journey-level), depending on the qualifications of the candidates and the departmental need. Employees in the Youth Development Program Coordinator I classification may advance to the Youth Development Program Coordinator II level after meeting higher-level qualifications.

urrent vacancy in our Police Department will be filled at the entry level, Youth Development Program Coordinator I. Some duties of this position are as follows:
Leading the coordination and implementation of key youth programs for the City, including Summer at City Hall, Vacaville Police Activities League (PAL) and the AWARE Coalition, which promotes drug and alcohol prevention among teens Planning and overseeing youth engagement events and activities, including Shop with a Cop, Junior Giants, PAL meetings, community service projects and other special events Engaging youth in local government through mentorship and training opportunities Participating in community outreach and public education activities Building and maintaining positive relationships with program participants, parents and community members

ideal candidate
will possess: Knowledge of youth development principles and effective engagement strategies Experience planning and implementing youth-focused programs and events Strong public speaking skills and experience with targeted outreach A background in working with youth across various developmental stages The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Education:
Equivalent to an Associate's degree in business administration, public administration, marketing or a field related to the assigned program area. Completion of a Bachelor's degree is desirable.
Experience:
Some experience in the development and coordination of programs, activities and events. Experience in youth development is highly desirable. Youth Development Program Coordinator II typically requires two years of experience performing a variety of increasingly responsible youth program development duties equivalent to those of a Youth Development Program Coordinator I.
License or Certificate: Select positions require the possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment.
Select positions require possession of, or ability to obtain, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications. ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE

Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits (including CalPERS membership), and do not accrue leave time with the exception of state mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).
Part-time positions are not covered by Social Security and are not eligible for the City of Vacaville's retirement plan through CalPERS and are therefore required to make 7.5% pre-tax contributions into a qualified plan under the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 (OBRA). For the City of Vacaville, the plan is a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan through Nationwide Retirement Systems, Inc. 01
