We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and support the sustainability and growth of our organization. Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer will provide finance and accounting management services to Starpoint across multiple programs, contracts, and grants. This includes oversight of accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, grant and Medicaid billing processes, month-end close, monthly production of financial statements and reports, strategic planning, vendor negotiations, and leveraging assets for the programs. The CFO is also responsible for the annual audit and maintaining internal controls while overseeing financial systems and related compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience, including work with both government and private contracts, and will thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The CFO will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors in determining long-term financial goals and developing strategies to achieve the financial objectives of Starpoint. Core Responsibilities Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger maintenance. Analyze and present accurate, timely financial reports (income statements, balance sheets) to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Lead annual budgeting and financial planning with the CEO; produce and monitor budget vs. actual reports. Oversee organizational cash flow, forecasting, and payroll operations. Manage capital assets, leases, equipment, and depreciation tracking. Lead vendor negotiations and evaluate capital improvement projects. Develop and oversee investment strategies. Manage grant billing/reporting and maintain a grant reporting calendar for financial deliverables. Ensure all business policies and accounting practices are current and effectively implemented. Stay informed on nonprofit finance best practices and federal/state compliance requirements. Ensure timely month- and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations. Coordinate and manage external/internal audits, including financial, single (Uniform Guidance), and program audits. Maintain audit readiness through strong internal controls and regulatory compliance. Address audit findings with corrective action and report risk assessments to leadership. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master’s or CPA preferred). 5+ years of senior financial leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or human services environment. Deep knowledge of Medicaid billing, grant financial management, and OMB Uniform Guidance compliance. Proven ability to manage complex budgets, audits, and financial reporting for multiple funding streams. Expertise in nonprofit fund accounting and financial systems (Great Plains, Sage). Strong leadership and supervisory experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey financial data clearly. High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical financial stewardship.
